Joshua Harris “Purity” part 4 slight book recap
Here is Part 4 of the series on Purity.
The book has so far been very insightful. Josh starts out with telling of a girl at the alter. as Her groom begins to say his vows, a line of girls walk up to the isle and hold his hand.
“I thought your heart was mine”
“It is, it is” he pleaded. “Everything thats left is yours”
This puts the risks of the dating game in perspective. The reactions to this dream from my class were that of amazment. It seemed like they were shocked that their actions now could eventually affect their marriage.
In the other chapters of Part one, he highlights 7 habits of defective dating and 5 attitude changes to avoid defective dating.
They are very great principles and josh does a good job of bringing to light the problems with society’s’ view on dating.
I would tell you more but you should really read the book. Its pretty cheap and worth it.
If you are reading or have read the book I would love to hear your thoughts on the first section. Also, any thoughts/testimonies you have on dating and on the topic of “to date or not to date”. I want to see what everyone thinks and I will give my thoughts later.
God bless,
Anthony

Joshua Harris “Purity” Part 2 & 3
Hi all,
Sorry it took a while to post these….. been a hectic week.

Joshua Harris “Purity” Part One
For the week of 4/20, please listen to this sermon by Josh Harris on purity. If you have any questions or comments on the sermon, please post them and I will talk about them in class. Also, please post 5 or so questions you hope to have answered in this class. For those readers not taking the class, please post your thoughts as well and I will respond to them as well. My goal is to have an ongoing discussion each week so those taking the class will be prepared with questions about the material.
God bless.

Relationships: Dating, Waiting and Mating
Hi all,
As some may know, I am a youth leader at my church and just this week we began a set of classes on various subjects. I am teaching a class on relationships which I named “Relationships: Dating, Waiting and Mating”. My heart for the class is to share the experiences I have had dating and to tell how the Bible says we should date. We will be using the book “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” by Joshua Harris as well as sermons from him and Mark Driscoll. I will be using my site to post the related maerial for my class to link to but all are encouraged to listen to the sermons and get the book. FOR MY CLASS: I would like to use this site for you all to post any questions or thoughts you have while reading the book and listening to the sermons. Please leave comments with your thoughts and questions and each week I will pull them off here and talk about them in class. All of my other readers are also encouraged to comment as well. If anyone would like to follow along with my class, I have made a new page with the syllabus and class description and I will be posting the sermons each week as well as a chapter review on the Monday after a section is due.
I hope everyone is as excited about this as I am!
God bless,
Anthony
Flyleaf is Fantastic!
So I went to the Flyleaf show and as usual, they were amazing!!
As. some may know, Flyleaf is a Christian band and they have no problems in proclaiming it. When I saw them about a year ago, in the middle of one of their songs the lead signer Lacey screamed the name of Jesus. It was cool to see a band stand up for what they believe in but this time they outdid themselves.
The very last song of their set, Lacey told a story about a woman who’s husband sang he a flyleaf song only hours before he died in a wreck. Then she said that she loves to hear about people making their songs personal but tonight the song was for Jesus Christ. Keep in mind here we are at a Seether concert (anything but Christian). I was super stoked to hear that she was still standing up for Christ. to get even better, before they ended the last song, they went into a worship song and they all bowed their heads and Lacey even got on her knees and lifted her hands. I could not believe it. It was so cool to see a very popular band not care about being famous but rather made it know that it was all about and all for Christ.
Does anyone have any other stories of Flyleaf or any other band standing up for Jesus. I would lobe to hear them.
God bless,
Anthony
Is your Bible Filter on?
I recently went to Acquire the Fire in Sacramento. It was fairly enjoyable but while there, I made an interesting observation. Too often, people take everything a preacher says as the word of God. It is important to remember that you are not hearing the word of God but rather hearing the explanation of the word of God. The difference has to be noted because its possible to take everything a person says as infallible simply because they are speaking about the Word.
When I looked around at all the kids that filled the ARCO arena, I noticed that there was only about half (if not less) that had a Bible and even fewer who had it open to read the scripture being used. When I examined a scripture that was used, I found that it was severely twisted and taken out of context. If I had not had my Bible open following along, I would have never caught it and would have just taken the preachers word for it. I think thats a big problem. We are called to check everything we hear or see with the Word of God and that includes sermons. Too often people put trust in man and expect him to get it right every time. It may not be intentional but sometimes a person may misuse a portion of scripture and as Christians we must protect ourselves from being misled by false use of scripture.
We must filter every thing we hear preached through the Bible or we have a high chance of being led astray.
Please take this as a admonition to guard yourselves through the word and study so you can be prepared to sift through everything you encounter.
God bless,
Anthony
Oprah is god and so am I?
I wish I could say I have gotten into the business of satire but regretfully the clip you are about to watch is real. For years, Oprah has claimed to be Christian and in the process has preached false Gospel to millions of women (her main demographic).
The things Oprah is teaching is evil and has nothing to do with Christ. She and Eckhart Tolle are using a pseudo jesus in order to make their cult more appealing and to fool unsuspecting Christians. Please do not be hoodwinked into believing the lies she tells.
If you watch Oprah or am part of her magazine or book club please turn off her show and cancel the subscriptions. She is a false prophet who has charmed her way to heading up a multi-billion dollar empire and has indoctrinated her views into her cult of new-ageism.
Please watch this clip and pass it on to everyone you know, especially women. Remember, we need to preach the gospel because this is what they hear about god.
God bless,
anthony
